But anyway... Yeah, people like that ARE miserable...been there done that! Having hate and anger makes you do things like that. For a while the anger does make you feel good like you are on top of the world and you could do anything, but after constant bickering with other people, and your family and yourself, it's just not a good feeling to have. I learned the hard way. Compassion and kindness for animals and other people makes you happier. At least, it does for me!

Knot, there are miserable people out there who feel better by tearing others down. My site is housed by a veterinary education organization, my site is recommended by vets to their clients and biology profs to their students. I figure that's all I need to say on the matter of people like Retes. He's not the first guy who's talked smack about me, and I doubt he'll be the last. ::shrug:: That's life on the Web.

What do you think about Frank Retes? That guy is so arrogant. It's like he is talking out his rear end! He openly talked trash about you on the monitor forum on Kingsnake. He said you kill your iguanas and your caresheets are some of the worst. He probably meant Wally that died from eating too much animal protein and then he went on and say to feed green iguana some mice! He is so ignorant! I can't stand him, but a lot of people seem to think he is a guru, although, I don't see why. He also said he has bred siblings together and mother to sons and father to daughters.... He said he has never had any sick animals from inbreeding them and say that some of his animals live a long life...more so than other people's monitors.

Mary, it is very much the same with herps and birds: the cool factor, the bored/lost interest factor, and the "gee, you mean they don't get tame all by themselves?" when it comes to buying non-captive-bred hand-raised birds and the person suddenly realizes they have to actually work at it.

While it sounds interesting, I don't think I could handle reading this book, emotionally. Thanks for the recap, though.

Thanks for all you've done to help educate people about the proper care of herps. I think many exotic animal owners have the best of intentions in the beginning, but then the novelty wears off and these poor animals pay the price. I see it all the time with parrots and seems to be a similar theme with herps.
